After choosing the designs I wanted to proceed with, I began to expand on the details of the costume and how I plan to accomplish them. I added more details like the crossing cords on her belt as a direct reference to Jinx's on-screen design, the pattern of her sandals mirroring the way she laces her boots unevenly, and adding meaning to the gold jewellery rather than having it just be there for the sake of historical accuracy. I researched particular connotations of various floral species, for example, to design her golden circlet; landing on the Manchineel tree, a highly toxic species with a leaf design that would be simple enough to translate into 3D.

I also theorised more on how I would decorate the sword, deciding to carve the runes into EVA with a wood-burning tool rather than having them painted on, to add depth to the flat surface. I also expanded upon details in the dress, bringing the design to life with weathered edges and symbolistic medallions concealing the shoulder seams.

Drawing this design in full definitely helped me generate some of these ideas, as it helped me conceive how I will capture the iconic personality of Jinx in a design that is so alien from the source material. I added facial details that will also let me know how I want my model's makeup to look if I am able to proceed to that stage.
