As Skills Passport is such an important part of our first year in costume, I decided my artefact should hold just as much importance to me. My immediate thought was to base my designs around some of my favourite media - video games, or animated TV shows. I settled on a blend of these two areas - the hit Netflix show Arcane, an animated series based on the video game League of Legends. This show was bursting with creativity and so many subjects I could draw inspiration from - the art style, the settings and characters are all so unique and iconic that I could have made a dozen totally different artefacts based on the first episode alone.
For this project, I decided to draw inspiration from the antagonist, Jinx - a chaotic and destructive girl focussed solely on her own gain despite others' misery. Whilst I wasn't sure how to use this inspiration, creating the below mood board helped me conceptualise some ideas.
I created this mood board initially in Photoshop, utilising the key skills learned in our Photoshop 1-1 classes - assembling a selection of high quality images and altering their colours to create a solid base, then exporting this to Procreate which gave me more freedom to create the neon, spray-painted aesthetic Jinx is commonly associated with.
