After cutting the pattern pieces, I assembled them using techniques I had learned over the past term - ensuring everything was overlocked for stability and edge stitching the lining and facing together for a clean finish. The main challenge came from the practical difficult of putting the pieces together - the seven different layers were at awkward angles, and I had to hand stitch a lot of the corners as they were inaccessible with a machine. I also had to use a large volume of stuffing to achieve a stiff final product that would stand on someone's head and keep its curled shape. The antennae were made of worbla spray-painted silver, and counter-weighted with pockets of baking beans lodged inside the stuffing so they wouldn't dislodge even if treated roughly.
