The first thing I did after deconstructing John Tenniel's design was consider how I would go about adapting that into a construction piece that matches the brief. Whilst the brief specified that if had to be child-safe, this did not present much of a challenge to me aside from ensuring that the construction was extremely stable. The challenge came from ensuring that it fit 95% of the target audience, as there is massive variation in sizes, even amongst children. Hence, I decided to do a hood (as head size is mostly consistent) with a large, loose-fitting robe. I used procreate for this initial sketch, then created the technical drawing from this, refining the shapes and noting ideas of colour and material.
